Welcome to The Boiler Room!

This game was built in 3 days for the 2024 GMTK game jam with the theme, "built to scale"

Use your mouse to order your soot sprites around. They can fill the furnace with coal to heat water and harvest scented herbs. A couple dozen of those and you could run a successful bathhouse.

Careful stoking that fire, though. If the tank is full and you keep adding coal, it could explode!

Buy houses and upgrade them to increase your soot sprite population

happy soot sprites are productive soot sprites :3

Don't forget to upgrade that boiler, too. She's old. Been breaking down sometimes. Click on the boiler to upgrade or repair it.

Controls: Left click and hold to grab your soot sprites. left or right click to release them for tasks

The art and animation for this game is astounding! Once I got the gist of the gameplay, I really got into a relaxed mood and enjoyed watching my little guys doing the work.

It's feels like a very complete experience and it's incredible to think that this was made in just 3 days! Amazing work!

Perfect!!!! You truly captured the concept. I can imagine how annoying it would be to have a little girl wander through and interrupt my busy sprites!

Haha for sure. Thanks for the kind words!

Absolutely fantastic! I love the use of characters of "spirited away". It was a ton of fun

Super fun, loved this! Came and played after I saw the GMTK video! Played it once and didn't get to max upgrades so came in with a mission the second time around, ended up giving 81 baths, earning 9460 gold and burning 1967 coal. That's a lot of baths, these little soots are great!

Well done!

This has to get top 20. Mark cannot turn his eye to this game without loving it. Art is incredible, fits the theme really well.

Thank you so much!

Absolutely one of my favourites, it's a lot of fun and the visuals are beautiful.

Love the theme, great job putting it all together!

this is probably one of the best games this year's jam

i absolutely adore the art style and the gimmick of having to manage a bathhouse business

Thank you so much! It was a phenomenal jam with so many incredible entries and we are very grateful to be featured among them :D

This is super cute! The game makes you relax pleasantly, but at the same time does not let you get bored. Towards the end of the game, the real excitement begins. I would like to see such a game on the phone. You can create many levels and safely release it to stores!

Visually stunning! Love the deep reds, oranges, and purples, very strong color palette!

Aw thanks so much. I was losing my mind with the palette haha. Really wanted to capture the reds from the movie :)

Really charming visuals, especially when they did their little jumps~ very spot on with studio ghibli feel. I was initially confused on the order mechanics, the coal fuel visual is two vertical bars, while in the order is using two horizontal bars.

yes this was definitely a weakness in the design. I think that piece was probably the hardest for players to understand. Completely agree with your feedback. Thank you for playing :)

WOW the art is amazing and the gameplay is dopamine simulator 2024. It's a little simple for my taste but its quintessential game jam goodness. My only complaint is that I feel the theme really didn't figure greatly into the game. Still there's no way I can rate this anything but max. Amazing job!

And if you get a chance, maybe check out my game: https://rochesterx.itch.io/circuitbreaker :)
This is my first game jam so its appreciated.

Wunderful!

One of my favorite movie! I love games like Pikmin and Overlord! Only complaint. The day counter of my contract doesn't go down! RIGGED! ;P

More seriously, except the IPs problems, having a story, a Susu counter (because I love big numbers), and very not much more mechanics... Get me that on Steam and you'll receive 50$ instantly.
